Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) has been extensively researched as the alternative for DRAM-based system, however traditional Controller (MC) cannot efficiently track and schedule operations all memory devices in heterogeneous systems due to different timing requirements complex architecture supports of various technologies. To address this issue, we propose a hybrid framework called POMI (POlling-based Interface). It uses small buffer chip inserted on each DIMM decouple operation scheduling from controller enable support diverse technologies system. Unlike conventional polling-based bus protocol communication resolve any conflicts between modules. The will provide feedback information main MC so that polling overhead is trivial. We two unique designs. first one adds additional lines sending information; second utilizes Command/Address bus. provides several benefits: technology-independent higher parallelism, better scalability. Our experimental results show can both homogeneous systems. Compared with DDR4-2400 implementation, our scheme improves performance memory-intensive workloads by 3.7% average. an existing interface systems, Twinload, it also 22.0% average workloads.
